Planning Process

All planning development (apart from permitted development) must gain approval from East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) before they proceed.

The process;

1. The applicant submits the necessary documentation to ERYC for approval.

2. ERYC publish the application on the Public Access website and refer the application to the Parish Council and to some residents who may be directly affected as part of their consultation process.

3. The majority of planning applications will be considered by the Parish Council at their meeting and will appear on the meeting Agenda, their comments are sent to ERYC.  Parish Council meetings are public meetings so anyone can attend to hear the decision.

4. Leven Parish Council may respond to applications that fall outside of Parish Council meeting dates under any agreed delegated powers.  The public will be notified of applications via the Parish Council website.  Leven Parish Council will consider individual comments received by email: clerk@levenpc.co.uk or in writing addressed to Leven Parish Council, 1 Rosedale, Leven, Beverley HU17 5NE 

5. Individuals can view the planning documents on the Public Access website.

6. Individual comments can be sent directly to East Riding via the Public Access website, in writing

7. At the end of the Consultation Period an ERYC Planning Officer can make a decision on an application or can refer it to an ERYC Planning sub-committee or Planning Committee after taking account of the compliance with national and local policies and the views expressed by the Parish Council and individuals during consultation.

8. ERYC inform the Parish Council of the outcome of all applications in this Parish.  Leven Parish Council planning applications and decisions are recorded in the Minutes of the meeting.
